Explore story
Pebble bays, pine-scented paths and the blue horizon. Discover the quieter rhythm of Rabac, just below historic Labin.
A white-stone shoreline, the slow pulse of a fishing harbour, pine trees bent towards the sea. This is Rabac: coastal Istria, without the rush.
First a modest fishing village, then a cherished seaside escape: Rabac tells its story in coves rather than monuments. Swim where the pebble shore turns the water turquoise, follow the promenade at dusk, and leave a day for Labin’s old town on the ridge above.
Get to know Rabac
Only a short journey separates the sea-facing coves of Rabac from the artists’ lanes and mining history of Labin. These two places belong together. Follow the coast in the morning, then rise to the old town as the light softens.

Girandella, St. Andrea, Lanterna and Maslinica are the four principal beach areas highlighted by Istria’s tourist board. Which is best depends on your preferred facilities, setting and crowds.
The two are roughly 5 km apart by road. You can also explore the signed Sentona walking trail; check route conditions and allow time for the climb.
June and September are often rewarding for swimming with a little more breathing space. July and August are the liveliest months; spring and autumn are particularly good for walking. Sea temperature and services vary.
